We’re excited to announce that Ghost is now open for business (and test driving!) in Detroit. Ghost is now doing local testing, development, and integration out of our new Metro Detroit office in Novi. We are also now supporting test and demo drives of the Ghost Autonomy Engine on all major Detroit-area freeways, including I-75, I-275, I-96, I-696, I-94, and the Lodge.
In addition to being the home of the auto industry in the United States, Metro Detroit and the State of Michigan offer some unique and challenging driving conditions to put the generalization of the Ghost Autonomy Engine to the test. In particular, local freeways feature long tunnels (tough for radar), highly reflective, low contrast road surfaces (challenging for vision-based systems, especially at dusk/dawn), and of course the unique weather challenges of rain, sleet, snow, and heavily salted roads.
